Horse Jumping
Went to the horse of the year show this sunday – one of the biggest equestrian events in the southern hemisphere. More importantly it was something happening in Hastings which is rare.
We watched a competition for best minature horse of 2 years and under, some dressage and of course some show jumping. The highlight of the show was watching an olympic qualifier doing the dressage. They had so much control over the horse making it trot on the spot and even do a move that looked like skipping! All of this was done to music making it almost like a dance. Needless to say they won that competition.
I also heard the national anthem being sung for the first time. A girl sang it in Maori, then everyone joined in for the english version.
